I Can Help with Crustless Apple Pie.

14 Dec

Today we save the world with good old fashioned American Apple Pie…minus the crust. I stand by my motto that no one should be able to turn down my desserts, in this case it is completely true. Gluten-Free Apple Pie for childhood hunger.

Ready. Set. Go.

3 Red Delicious Apples

-Peel and take out the centers. Cut in half.

1 Teaspoon McCormick Roasted Siagon Cinnamon

1 Teaspoon Nutmeg

1 Teaspoon chopped Crystallized Ginger

1/2 cup Turbinado Sugar

-Place all of these ingredients in a mixing bowl, add the apples and coat them.

1/2 stick of butter over low heat

-Melt the butter and then add the apples placing the centers down. Simmer for 5 mins covered.

-Flip the apples, pour some of the liquid over them. And continue to simmer on low until fork tender. It was about 2 mins for mine but each apple is different.

-Serve hot with fresh whipped cream.

Share Our Holiday Table

13 Dec

Share Our Strength has a great new projest they are working on:

No Kid Hungry™, an unprecedented, five-year effort designed to end childhood hunger in America. Our nation has the food and programs in place to end childhood hunger, but consider what we are up against: The stigmas and embarrassment that surround hunger, the challenges presented by access to healthy food, and the struggle to connect children with the resources they need to thrive. For 25 years, Share Our Strength has been confronting hunger head-on to break down these barriers. Together, with your support, we can put an end to childhood hunger. Will you join us in the No Kid Hungry campaign?

Next came this:

Bloggers are invited to take part in a seven-day, online progressive dinner series—Share Our Holiday Table—that will help raise funds for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign during the critical holiday period. More than 40 bloggers are participating and the dinner will unfold across 7 courses and in 4 tracks (Gourmet, Family-Friendly, Gluten Free and Vegetarian).

Everyone knows I can’t say no to baked goods for a great cause! So I sent an email to enter a dessert, Crustless Apple Pie. I will post this great Gluten-Free recipe so that not only can all of you enjoy this delicious dessert but you can spread the some of the sweder side of life to children that can’t help themselves!

If you feel moved to start early this is the donation page:

Here is a simple tradition for everyone to start! The parties are called Drop In and Decorate parties.

It is very simple. Make cookies including sugar cookies and drop them off at a single house.

Then make lots of royal icing in fun colors!

Let all the lil kids and the big kids run free and decorate all the sugar cookies!

Let the sugar cookies dry so they are perfect to create smiles! Then, bag up the 90 dozen cookies that show up at your house!(Seriously, that is how many showed up! Amazing!)

Staple an adorable thanksgiving card to each bag and get ready to bring lots of hungry people some delicious treats. We donated ours to the Minot Area Homeless Coalition, Salvation Army and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.

75 bags of more then a dozen yummy cookies made many more happy holidays. <3
